Our Projects

Volunteering in Daycare

This daycare in Ilboru, Arusha supports around 20 children aged 2 – 5 from vulnerable families and single mothers, offering them a safe and caring place to stay while their parents are at work. Here, the children can learn English, develop early skills, and build a strong foundation that will help them later enter private school and improve their future opportunities. Instead of being left alone at home, they receive proper care, supervision, and guidance throughout the day.

Volunteers help with learning activities, creative projects, playtime, and daily routines, creating a warm and stimulating environment where each child can grow, learn, and feel supported. You’re encouraged to bring your own ideas like storytelling, songs, games, or anything fun and engaging for the kids. You’ll be working closely with the daycare’s caretaker.

You don’t need any prior experience. What matters is that you enjoy being around children, feel comfortable entertaining them, take initiative, and are open to learning and adapting. And of course, we’ll always be there to support you with any questions or challenges you may face.

Your tasks will include:

  • Supporting the caretaker

  • Playing with the children

  • Helping with writing exercises or homework

  • Assisting with daily activities

The daycare is located about a 10-minute walk from the accommodation where you’ll be staying.

Assistance in a private pre and primary School (with inclusive education)

Join a private pre- and primary school in Njiro, Arusha, that offers inclusive education for children with special needs. As a private school, all subjects are taught in English. The inclusive approach ensures that children with special needs, such as autism, ADHD, and others, learn alongside their peers. Some students with special needs may require extra time to complete tasks or may find it challenging to follow the pace of the regular class due to difficulties with attention or concentration. This is where your support becomes valuable, whether it’s offering a short break, providing one-on-one assistance, or simply being present to guide them through their activities.

You’ll be working with the teachers as you support the school’s daily activities. You don’t need professional teaching experience for this project. What helps most is a bit of initiative and the willingness to use the skills you already have and step in where you see they’re needed. You won’t be teaching on your own, your role is to support the teachers in class. And of course, the team is always there to help if you have questions or run into any challenges.

Your tasks include:

  • Assisting teachers during lessons

  • Supporting children with special needs

  • Doing crafts and playing with the preschool pupils

  • Showing children and teachers new sports and games

  • Introducing classes like arts, music or IT

  • Training teachers (positive teaching methods, non-violence discipline, etc.)

Every Friday is dedicated to sports day, adding a fun and active end to the week.

It takes around 50 minutes to get to the school from the accommodation, and you can get there easily using public transport.

Volunteer at an inclusive Daycare

This daycare welcomes all children, including those with disabilities such as autism or physical disabilities. Their goal is to provide every child with the best possible opportunities while promoting inclusion within the community.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Assist the staff in daily activities and playtime
  • Bring your own ideas for fun and engaging activities
  • Support children in learning and social interaction

If you are a therapist (e.g., physiotherapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist), you are welcome to offer therapy occasionally. However, the focus remains on creating a fun, engaging, and supportive environment rather than turning the daycare into a therapy center.

It takes around 40 minutes to get to the school from the accommodation, and you can get there easily using public transport.
