There are two airports close to Arusha town, Arusha Airport (ARK) and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Kilimanjaro is an international airport and Arusha is a domestic airport. If you come from abroad it is more convenient and comfortable to take the flight to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO).
We advise you to visit the website from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from your countries, but also to make an appointment with a tropical doctor to check about medicines and refreshing or getting vaccines.
If you come for travelling you need the tourist visa. This can be applied online before arrival or on arrival for 50 USD, valid for 90 days. If you come for volunteering we will give you more informations when you get in touch with us.
The minimum age is 18 years.
We recommend you to have a health insurance for Tanzania.
Swahili and English are the two official languages in Tanzania. Most of the people speak Swahili, but also with English you come quite far. In our Volunteer projects we make sure that there is someone who speaks English. If you are interested though to learn some Swahili basics, we can link you with a teacher. It is sometimes useful to go for example for shopping on local markets.
The currency is Tanzanian Shilling. You can either bring USD or Euros with you and change them here at the bank, or you can get Tanzanian Shillings at the ATM. Please consider you can only get 400,000Shilling (around 140 USD) at once from the ATM.
